Bottle at home, Black beer, small head. Aroma is chocolate, malt, roast, coffee, dark ripe fruit, raisins. Taste is the same, bitter, roast, coffee, sweet, dark fruit, malt, chocolate. Very nice.

Bottled. Black colour, mediumsized beigeish brown head. Aroma is chocolaty, some toasted, mild dried fruity tones to it. Flavour is liquorice, toffee, mildly toasted tones with some herbal, grassy and chocolaty tones with a wee bit of alcohol to it as well. Very smooth

Optisch nahezu schwarz mit dunkelorangeroten Reflexen. Die hellbraune, feinporige Schaumkrone gibt sich beinahe cremig und langlebig. Olfaktorisch präsentiert sich eine süßlich-herbe und holzige Charakteristik, in der sich eine dunkelmalzige, leicht rauchige Röstaromatik einbindet. Aus dem Hintergrund grüßen reife bis dörrobstartige Fruchtnoten Der Antrunk kommt angenehm spritzig, frisch mit einer breiten und süßlich-herben Röstaromatik. Die relativ schwere und ölige Haptik am Gaumen verrät, dass man es mit einem sehr dichten und wuchtigen Bier zu tun hat. Aromatisch zeigen sich kräftige, leicht rauchige Röstnoten. Diese füllen den Körper quasi vollends aus. Die alkoholische Note aus dem Hintergrund ist bei so einem Bier zwar schwer zu handeln, wäre aber im Optimalfall zu vermeiden. Die zarten reifen Fruchtnoten binden sich zwar ganz gut in das Geschehen ein, aber es reicht nicht für den erhofften Wow-Effekt. Gesamtaromatisch zeigt sich ein durchaus gutes und harmonisches süßlich-herbes, leicht fruchtiges Porter, jedoch sollte man aus 9,6 % Alkohol und einer Stammwürze von 22,0 °P um einiges mehr heraus holen können. Vor allem erwarte ich mir eine noch samtigere Haptik und eine deutlich komplexere Aromatik. Das Mundgefühl ist durchaus gut und auch eine gewisse Süffigkeit ist vorhanden. Im Nachtrunk klingen die röstigen und fruchtigen Noten langsam aus. Man nimmt vor allem eine lang anhaltende dunkle Schokonote wahr. Fazit: Ein richtig gutes Porter - auch wenn noch Luft nach oben ist.

Large bottle at Morskie Oko restaurant, Krakow, Poland. A black coloured pour with a huge beige head on top. Sweet, roasty, malty, chocolate aroma & taste. A nice sweet tasting Polish porter, went really well with the excellent meat dish at this restaurant.

Aroma 7. Appearance 5. Taste 7. Palate 3. Overall 14. Roasted malt, liquorice, cocoa, and some sweet aroma. Taste is quite similar with more sweetness and a slight alcohol aftertaste.

0.5l bottle. Very dark ruby body with a thin beige head. Aroma and taste of caramel, dark sugar, raisins, cocoa and some nutmeg. Nice, but not the best Baltoc porter I have ever had.
