330 ml bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 2/11/2017. Pours slightly hazy/cloudy deep golden amber color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big lemon, peach, pear, apple, orange zest, coriander, peppercorn, clove, light banana/bubblegum, cracker, biscuit, light honey, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast, spices, pale malt, and light-moderate earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big lemon, peach, pear, apple, orange zest, coriander, peppercorn, clove, light banana/bubblegum, cracker, biscuit, light honey, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate peppery yeast spiciness and herbal/grassy bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of lemon, peach, pear, apple, orange zest, coriander, peppercorn, clove, light banana/bubblegum, cracker, biscuit, light honey, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, spices, pale malt, and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; with an awesome malt/bitter/spiciness balance, and zero astringent flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from bitter/spiciness and carbonation. Fairly clean finishing. Medium-high carbonation and medium-plus body; with a very smooth, moderately bready/grainy, and fairly crisp/sticky balanced mouthfeel that is great. Minimal warming alcohol for 8.2%. Overall this is an excellent Belgian strong pale ale! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, spices, pale malt, and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; very smooth, crisp, clean, and refreshing to drink for the ABV; with the balanced bitter/spicy/drying finish. Really well rounded yeast complexity, robust Pils malt flavor balance, and a pleasant addition of spice. A very enjoyable offering, and spot on style example.

0.5l flip-top bottle from budweis. pours a slightly hazy pale amber with a dense yellowish head. aroma of belgian yeast, fruity esters, a bit of banana, apples, oranges, coriander. flavour of candy, grass, butter, biscuit. oily mouthfeel. alcohol is well hidden.

Aroma has butter, grass, some alcohol and sweetish malt. Flavour has strong grassy notes, butter and biscuits. Like a mixture of Czech pils and Belgian ale. And Czech is clearly winning – this is a butter overdose. At least this hides the ABV well.

500ml bottle, thanks FatPhil! Pours dark orange with a foamy head. Aroma of ripe fruits, yeast, earthiness, grainy notes and hints of hay. Taste is sweetish, earthy and grainy with some ripe fruits, yeast and hay. Finish is slightly sweet and grainy with some yeastiness, warming alcohol and hints of butter and hay. Not as bad as I expected, but it’s a bit boring. Gets slightly worse as it warms up.
