The starting beer is a classic Porter added with Tuscan Kentucky tobacco leaves, the same ones that are used to make traditional Italian cigars. The result is a very dark beer with very rich aromas of tobacco, spices and walnut husks. The mouthfeel and palate deliver roasty notes, with a slight acidity and the tobacco offers a peppery and almost hot feeling.

Tobacco beer with quickly dissolving, loose, off-white head and near black colour with yellowish brown hue. Smoky aroma, toasted, peaty single malt, raisins, pipe tobacco, sage, chocolate, leather; bitter chocolate and faintly sweetish caramel malts in the mouth, dry and spicy, explicitly smoky like a peaty whisky, hint of hot spiciness in the finish. Weird but very tasteful.

Flaske 750ml fra Vinmonopolet, Bestillingsutvalget. Delt med djoeye på Nerstranda 16 Aug 14. Svart. Så vidt gjennomskinnelig. Høyt litt farget luftig skum som varer. Aroma av røstet malt & lakris. Smaken er sjokolade & kaffe. Skjemmes av for mye kullsyre som ødelegger litt av den gode smaken.

Pours dark, nice head that finally falls. Aroma is smokey and has a lot of roast. Also some caramel and something sweet. Taste has some carmel at first, smoke disappears and roast flavours remain. Not too frightening and a nice one as a simple dark brew. Goes well together with pizza.

0.75l bottle shared with The Tasting Crew. This is a deep dark coffee brown colored one with a medium sized light brown bubbly top. On the nose there is lots of old chocolate and some cocoa. Small traces of both chestnuts, cold coffee, cardboard, vinduspuss and lots of cigar smoke. Lots of strange things here! Not loving it but it's not that bad either. Is this a smoked one? It tastes quite alright. Soft to flat on the carbonation and it has a gliding almost slick mouthfeel. I like the way this tastes. Milky old harden sun damaged chocolate with cold coffee, more earthy cigar smoky tones and a little bit of cardboard. Strange in many many ways, but also tasty. 23.10.2013

Dark brown, aroma is earthy, choc...nice. Dry chocolate palate, earth, the tobacco shows as a balancing agent before it gets a bit thin.

--- Beer merged from original tick of KeTo Reporter on 17 May 2018 at 16:15 - Score: 8

Tap @Luppolo 12, Roma 20.7.2013
Dark brown color, small steady brownish head, lace. Milky, toasted nose and some iron. Medium-bodied. At Luppolo they claimed this 8,5% beer - well it was too weak for that. Toasted, caramelly sweetish well not really sweetish but like licorice candy sweet and salty. Some spiceyness. A bit messy.

Tap at Sheffield Tap. Darkest brown. Tight, lasting, beige head. Aroma is light roast malt. As others have said there is a woodiness, too. Some smokiness. Taste is dry, dark fruit. Light, bitter finish. Had to rush this, mores the pity, but definitely one I’d like to try again.
