Living proof of how amazing beer can be.
The most popular type of bottom-fermented beer in the world in an unusual version. The history of the lager goes back to the Middle Ages. It is a bottom fermented beer aged at low temperatures. In German, the word “Lagerung” means aging. In the Middle Ages, beer was “laged” in cool places, such as in caves. In the nineteenth century, that is, before the appearance of appropriate refrigerators, German brewers dug cellars specially for the aging of beer. They filled it with ice from nearby lakes and rivers, which allowed the beer to cool in summer (also because for a long time brewing in summer was prohibited in most of the country). The spread of lager is closely related to the development of refrigeration. As a result, it could be brewed all year round in more places.
We have been brewing Żywe beer continuously since 2004. It is unpasteurized from the very beginning. This is the first Polish beer recommended by the Slow Food organization and the first to be awarded the mark of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development – Know Good Food. Awarded many times.
Perfect as an addition to lean meat dishes. It goes well with blue cheeses.

0,5 l bottle from kappldav123. Thanks a lot! BB 27.04.2025. Clear golden in the glass with a stable and more than one finger fine foamy head. Grainy caramel aroma with some apple fruity elements. Taste has more caramel than grain, also fruity. Soft bitterness. Pale grainy in the aftertaste. Below average carbonated. Okay.

3/V/25 - 50cl bottle @ Cybu’s spring BBQ tasting, BB: 29/V/25, L3, 20:37 (2025-443) Thanks to Cybu for sharing the bottle!
Clear gold yellow beer, big creamy white head, stable, a bit adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: malty, grains, hay, a little fruity, sweet impression. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: sweet malty start, fruity, sugary, some apple juice, gentle bitterness, ok but not great. Aftertaste: somewhat sourish, sweet malts, grains, a little oxidized, some almonds.

Bottle from a local supermarket in Mielno. As Amber Piwo Zywe. Looks simple but good. Beer in the glass with a nice head. Starts intense malty, modest dry, some metallical notes. Wheaty hints as well. Finish could be a bit more balanced. Okay.

Van het vat in Gdansk. Donkergeel bier met schuim. Smaak doet wat denken aan een Helles, vrij zoet en kruidig met iets van vanille. Best een prettig en goed drinkbaar bier.

# 1199; 9/2018. Velmi sladký, výrazně pomerančový, trochu obliný, ale vcelku ujde.
