Blueberry Jack is a psychedelic trip to flavor town. A hazy collaboration with our friends at Stillwater Artisanal Ales, it’s also the latest entry in their “Strains from Mother Nature” series. We blended together a blonde Brettanomyces-fermented ale aged in both oak barrels and foedres, then added California-grown blueberries and blackberries. After maturing, we dry-hopped the beer with reckless amounts of Citra, Mosaic and Galaxy hops for a trippy, tropical-dank aroma.

Bottle. Pours hazy plum, small off-white head, dissipates quickly, some lacing. Aroma is bretty funk, berries, basement, hint of citrus. Flavor is light tart, medium plus funk, berries and brett. Medium body, citric finish. The dry hop has all faded, but what is left is nice.

Bottle. A- Subtle berries, musty, funky, oak, slightly bready, mild hops. A- Reddish orange color, clear liquid, off white head. T- Dark berries, funky, mild brett, tart, mild caramel bread. P- Light body, average texture, average carbonation, lively finish. O- Awesome bottle. Wish it was screen printed. Not so awesome price at $15 for a 12 oz bottle. Other than being way overpriced, it was unique. Not overly tart or sour or funky and even a touch hoppy.

Draught at Darby’s Gastown, Vancouver
Hazy red-amber color. Nice aroma of berry wine (blueberry or elderberry), but not very deep. Dry mouthfeel, prominent tartness, a bit soapy, with mild elderberry flavor, and light final astringency.
Nice, quite vibrant.

On tap at Farmhouse Fest, pours a cloudy pinkish amber with a small beige head. Aroma is funky, with farty funk, and a touch of pith. Flavour is farty, with some sulphur, light blueberry pith and some wildness. Cloudy, pithy and sulphury. Not my favourite Almanac beer.
