The Bolleke is an Antwerp icon and loved by many beer lovers, even across the city borders. Bolleke Hop is inspired by the popular Bolleke, but the brew masters used extra hops. After fermentation, when the beer is cold, the brewers add extra hops with the so-called "hop gun". While the regular Bolleke has a slightly bitter taste and surprises with a typical, malty taste, the Bolleke Hop thus gets an extra hop aroma and bitterness.

Draught Good, foamy, lishtly creamish-coloured head over veiled orangeish amber beer. Spicy nose, rosemary, bit of band aid. De Koninck yeast. De Koninck Bolleke with an extra bitterish streak, bit resiny, non-sweet caramel. Again the typical De Koninck yeast. The bitterness lingers on, covering not only the classical maltiness of Bolleke, but also the extra alcohol. Some stickyness all the same, at least medium bodied, medium to good carbonation, spritzy. Better than the classical Bolleke? No. Interesting? Yes. Likeable? Certainly. Variation is the spice of life. Crowler filled at the brewery.
