Bitter-sweet Red Ale, A style that you don't see around too much these days, and what a shame it is! Hawkshead's bitter-sweet, malty red is just the ticket if you fancy something a little on different! Very much a traditional beer, there's plenty of earthy and grassy notes to be found intermingled with a strong maltiness and plenty of bitter rye licks.

Mörk kopparfärgad och klar vätska. Kakig, brödig och karamellig arom. Lätt karamellig inledning som övergår till mera av en mjuk fruktkaka i smak. Något lätt blommig beska.

Handpull cask at the Beer Hall, Staveley. Amber and clear with a small uneven off-white head. Malty aroma with additional notes of redcurrant, milk chocolate, cherry candy. Taste is bittersweet and a trifle metallic. The bittering hop asserts itself fairly aggressively right at the finish. More cherry and a touch of wood shavings in the aftertaste. There isn't so much character to this, but it's well made, and the simplicity grows on me throughout the sip.

The flavour is moderate bitter light sweet with a light, watery, malt, dry light pepper spice, light fruit, light metallic hop bitter palate and a long bitter finish.
