Mardi Gras Bock is the first of our seasonal brews. Abita Mardi Gras Bock is brewed with pale, pilsner and caramel malts and German Perle hops. Our bock is similar to German maibocks with its rich malt flavor and full body. A perfect choice during Carnival season in New Orleans. Gruyére, Emmental and Swiss are nice cheese choices with Bock. Great with roasted beef or pork. Try it with Mexican food, too.

On draft at the lost dog cafe in mclean. Pours a clear gold with a white head. Malt aroma. Malt forward flavor. Crisp smooth finish.

Tap at Stagshead. Pours copper with one finger head and caramel malt nose. Tastes of earth, pepper, caramel, and biscuits. Slightly watery palate but overall crisp and nice enough

12oz bottle pours clear copper with weak off white head. The aroma is lagery sweet with pilsner like malts that infuse the mild floral hops with added sweetness and rolls timidly into a bit of grainy malts and apple like esters. The taste delivers sugary sweet malts nuanced by some lager yeastiness, floral hops and a touch of spicy yeast.

Bottle sample at a spring beers tasting at Norma Jean. As Abita Mardi Gras Bock. Clear copper color. Aroma of malt, caramel, cookie-ish hints, grainy notes and light fruity notes. Sweet malty flavor with caramel, some graininess and a drier finish with a bit of alcohol. Medium-bodied.

Bottle labeled as Mardi Gras Bock. Pours a clear gold/orange with a pretty decent head that spills over the sides of the glass and causes a little cussing before cleanup. Aromas are sweet and doughy, with little evidence of a heavy hops presence. Flavor is a little syrupy sweet... lots of honey and dough, a little bit of a herbal presence, some fruit (pears) and a hint of abv.

Rejoice, another Abita beer. So this is is supposed to put one in the festive mood of mardi gras? Pours a clear amberish, white head. Aroma, pale malts, hops and a sweet doughy malt nose as the beer warms up a bit. Flavor, bitter/grassy hops, light caramel and mild toasted malt flavors, cardboard mouthfeel that is one dimensional except for the faint touch of doughy palate.

bottle, pours light amber, tall frothy tan head. Aroma is carmel and sweet malts with some booze. Flavor is rich with a metallic carmel maltyness that is sweet throughout with a light bready finish.

Tap at Cowgirl Seahorse. Pours a light, shiny brown-amber. Medium white head. Nose is sweet, caramel malts. Flavor is malty, with some maple and caramel notes. Also some warming alcohol. Rich malty aftertaste. Pretty good.

Bottle from BevMo in Elk Grove, CA. As Abita Mardi Gras Bock. Pours a light orange gold color with a moderate white head. Aromas of noble hop and caramel. Medium body with sharpish carbonation. Flavor is caramel with nobel hop, kind of like an amber pilsner. Ends mildly sweet with supporting bitter. Not bad.
