Bottle from Asda. Pours a clear light copper colour with a thin white head. Aromas of caramel and floral hops. Taste has more caramel and floral with a little peppery spice, a touch of orange and biscuits. Thin to medium body, low carbonation and smooth oily mouthfeel. Dry finish. it’s ok but a bit boring.

[Cask at the Monks Retreat (JDW), Reading.] Amber with a thin cream head; quite full bodied, grainy, and with some soft citrusy fruit; the a deep, gentle, long-lasting, bitterness to finish. (6/4/6/4/12=3.2)

From cask at Malt Shovel Tavern, Northampton, Northamptonshire on tour to 22 southern counties with OGJ and EE 09.01.19. Clear golden. White head and lacing. A classic quaffable bitter, with aroma and taste of pale malt and bitter marmalade. Soft bitterness is lingering on.

500 ml bottle, from The British Corner Shop. ABV is 4.2%. Beautiful clear deep golden colour, moderate white head. Aroma of malts and grain, hints of toffee, also a whiff of dark fruits. Malty and biscuity flavour, a little fruit, again a hint of toffee, moderate hops. Fair enough.

Bottle from Morrisons Harwich. Poured a clear medium amber with a frothy white head. The aroma is toffee caramel, woody hop. The flavour is moderate bitter with a woody, light fruit, light pepper spice palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Bottle from Aldi, Keighley. Golden-amber with a very thin bubbly head disappearing quickly. Has a recognisable pale ale texture with a very mild fruitiness evident. Certainly sessionable within its style.
