Made with 100% best Maris Otter malt (the Rolls Royce of malts), together with a blend of (never divulged) English hop varieties…Butcombe Bitter is a moreish Mendip masterpiece!

Thin white coarse head; brown faintly hazy body. Faint hay-and-tea-like aroma. Soft, delicate floral hoppy taste with slightly bitter tea and wild berries aftertaste. Slightly acidic. A nice bitter, but a bit too thin-bodied. (1pt on cask.)

Bright dark amber. The aroma is toasty and a little bit of hop. Toasty malts and lingering bitter hops on the palate. Clean and very English with a crisp apple fruitiness. This can pick up some butter if it’s old, but usually it’s a good go-to beer in the Bath & Bristol area.
