Cask @ Town Crier, Chester [270115]
Dark amber, clear, dense white head, good lacing
Aroma of twiggy hops, light minerals, soft yeast
Taste of twiggy hops, earthy bitter hops, soft caramel malt, bit flinty, dab of roasted malts, slight fruits underneath, for the style it’s not bad
Palate - Light body, fairly bitter. Finish as main flavour, twiggy earthy hop finish, some cereal.
Overall A ’boring brown bitter’. Not bad but this style not my thing.

Cask at the white lady jdw. Pours clear golden amber, thin white head. Faint astringent malt aromas, light fruit. Taste is sweet, more astringent maltiness. Medium body, but ultimately watery and dull.

On tap from the bowl inn almondsbury, colour is deep ruby, with an off white creamy head. Not a big aroma by ant stretch. The taste has malt and caramel,. Ok bitter.

Bottle from Waitrose and drunk at home. Clear mid brown lasting beige head. Slight toasty malt aroma with some earthy English malts. Toasty malts are rather good as is the balancing English hops. Rather good I thought. Good balance good brown bitter. I liked it. Good balance. Good malt good hop. Very drinkable. I’d have a second bottle easy.
