In 2008, we congratulated Mark Graham and Loren Miraglia for winning our Batch No. 1 Homebrew competition by brewing their beer as our very first batch. Recently, we decommissioned our original brewhouse and brought a new, state-of-the-art brewhouse to life. Recreating our first recipe seemed the best way to begin this new chapter in our brewing history. Levud’s is a Belgian-style golden ale that’s crisp, effervescent, complex and filled with memories and significance in our brewery’s history.

2015 Bottle enjoyed NYE. Chilled and poured into a snifter at fridge temp. Good golden color. candied sugar aroma, belgian yeast and a nice herbal touch. Lots of candied sugar taste, honey, oak, slight banana taste with cinnamon and yams with a really good yeast presence. Booziness is well hidden. finish is sweet and a little bit of pine. overall, a nice belgian strong ale.

Location: 750ml bottle via dbarnold, 12/2/15

Aroma: Yeasty and fruity (I mostly get banana), pepper / clove, other spice, and some grains
Appearance: It pours a hazy yellowish color with a thick off-white head and fairly heavy lacing
Flavor: The flavor gets a bit sweeter than I would have liked, with some spice, yeast, and fruit
Palate: The body is medium-plus, slightly sticky, with mild heat, and a lively carbonation
Overall Impression: Pretty tasty though a touch too sweet for what I prefer in this style. Alcohol is obviously there, but at the same time well-hidden (which I realize makes absolutely no sense at all).

750mL bottle, pours a hazy dark orange with a small white head. Aroma is really odd, with medicinal notes, loads of tomato juice, and candied sugar. Flavour tastes like tomato juice too, like a Bloody Mary mix, with candied sugar and some medicinal notes. Crazy how much like tomato juice this tastes like. Not a disaster, but certainly not good.

750 mL bottle courtesy of Nate at the 14th Richmond Ratebeer Gathering, 3/19/11, or as some call him... NastyNate. Bottle 105/2157. Pours a clear vibrant copper color with a medium sized creamy tan head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of leafy hops, citrus, toffee, berries, apricots. Very fruity. The taste is spicy hops, tart fruits, strawberries, apricot, citrus, leafy notes, burnt sugar, toffee, coconut and a bit of booze. Medium-full bodied, chewy mouthfeel. Damn good beer. This rocks my world.

Bottle 361/2157. Hazy amber beer. Low carbonation. Supressed hop start. Just a little orangey grapefruit leading to a subtley sweet brandyish finish. No bitterness and not too dry. Warming afterglow. Drinkable but lacks a bit of identity.
