568 ml can. Pours a dull amber with moderate head. Aromas of stoned fruit jam, bready malts and a little weedy dank hops. Flavors dried stoned fruit, biscuity malts and more weedy hops. Simple and nice though humongous can is too big for the ABV

I heard these extra tall boys are getting to be common in the US and I’m happy to grab them in Japan. Pretty much the same price in Japan as a 500ml can for and extra half a glass or so. Deschutes Royal Fresh Imperial IPA 9% Clear copper gold with a dense off-white foam and a bright fruity hop bouquet with underlying pine elements. Quite rich and full bodied. Thing bold west coast IPA with an overlay of juicy elements. Not complex or all they interesting but definitely satisfying that hoppy itch.

500ml can from Albertsons. Copper colored pour with a mild haze, thin cap of head. Aroma is citrusy hops with a smidge of dank. Taste follows the aroma and brings a bit of caramel malts to the mix. About where I expected this to be for a mass produced DIPA.

From a 568ml can on 22/3/2021. Pours a clearish golden with a medium head. The nose features citrus and candied fruit, with some biscuit. Tastes quite sweet with lots of orange and peach, with some biscuit malt. The countering bitterness is pretty firm, with lots of resin and a touch of pine, and there's a bit of booze in the mix as well. The mouthfeel is sticky and syrupy, the carbonation moderate. A pretty solid DIPA.

I got a hold of a 12 oz bottle of Royal Fresh at the local HEB supermarket yesterday. The stamp on the bottle indicates it was packaged on 9/8/20 indicating to me that consumption needs to take place promptly. Will do. My Great Heights snifter is arrayed, the pour is made. I see a mostly clear, light yellow body followed by a thin ring of mostly white foam. An alluring scent, tropical initially with some grass and pine. A drink comes along. Mango, pineapple, varnish, white bread, a light pineyness, hops and malt. A nice sensation to go with it, perhaps from the strongish ABV. Tasty and refreshing.

Imperial pint can, pkd 12/20. Clear deep gold with a large white head. Shy aroma of citrus and tropical fruit, pine, a whiff of booze. Taste is rather more vibrant with stinging citrus and supporting tropical fruit (pineapple, lychee, mango) over solid bready malt before some pine asserts itself before the bitter and slightly boozy end. Very drinkable for its strength. The aroma is a let down though.

12 ounce bottle from Woodman's Appleton, 3/1/21. Very hazy orange, thin foamy off-white head. Good retention. Aroma of grapefruit, mango, pineapple, pale malt. Taste is tangerine, grapefruit, pineapple, melon, pale malt. Medium bodied, juicy, moderate bitterness. Nice. Old school.

Can from Legacy LRS, Vancouver
Golden colour, bright, just some chill haze. It's lightly boozy, with minimal sweetness, gentle malt touch; slightly oily; there are some hop resins, but not enough brightness; lightly biscuity in the finish.
Maybe it lost some freshness, but it's still a solid brew, clean, at a decent price.
