Can sample at a tasting at troubles' place. Thanks Tom L. Black, big creamy tan head. Coffee, chocolate, roast, a bit sweetish, bitter finish, ashy, medium-bodied.

Botella 33 cl Cata Ratebeer Asturias XIII en el Kraken. 16-10-2017 (r08). Fcpref 29-11-2017. Color negro con bastante espuma beige. Sabores con toques abundantes de cafe, algo seco, achicorias y suaves cacaos. Cuerpo medio, seco, amargo y torrefacto al final. Algo aspera. Normal.

Can at the old dears, from Callans, 09/07/17. Pitch black with a handsome tan head that thins over time. Nose is roast malt, liquorice, coffee grinds, vanilla, milk chocolate. Taste comprises earthy tones, light black peppery spice, chocolate dipped raisins, light coffee strokes, touch of ash. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, drying close. Ok stout but had expected more coffee presence.

Keg @ Black Sheep, Dublin [210114]
Very dark brown, rich beige creamy head, good lacing
Aroma - big rich roast coffee hit, rich dark malts, some earthy malts, bit nutty
Taste - Wow heavy at first, but get into it quickly, rich dark malts, bit earthy, rich deep roast coffee, dark chocolate, powdery cocoa, this is nice, lots of coffee, big flavours
Palate - soft carb, medium body, rich texture. Finish as main flavour, clinging dark malts on the palate, smooth chewy texture
Overall - I only got the last bit out of the keg [1/5 pint], heavy for 6%, rich, like the coffee. Not a fan of ’thin’ stouts - this is rich....heavy at first but the palate adjusts quickly. It’s getting the 4....
