Is the Space Pope reptilian? That question remains to be answered but in the meantime we have his eponymous IPA to consider. Brewed with an astronomical amount of Mosaic, Citra, CTZ and (what else?) Galaxy hops that lend notes of passionfruit and melon to the clean flavors of base malt and a touch of crystal malt for depth of character. When your ecclesiastical jurisdiction encompasses the entire universe, only Cigar City’s Space Pope IPA will do!

Can from Lupe Pintos. Clear golden body with a thick off-white head. Steady carbonation. Good lacing. Aroma of honey and tinned orange. Flavour of pine and menthol. Medium body with an oily texture. Soft fizz. A sweet, hoppy IPA.

Can. Clear gold with a sticky, white head. The aroma has citrus, lemon, mango and pineapple. The flavor has light bitterness on the front and back with a malty middle that appears briefly. Not as good as JaiAli

Not gonna lie--part of my meh opinion lies in that this perfectly serviceable IPA has replaced my beloved White Oak Jai Alai as Cigar City's canned spring seasonal, which is quite the step down. Nothing glaringly wrong with Space Pope, but it doesn't do much to differentiate itself from any other modern IPA, offering up grapefruit zest and berry and tropical notes with a touch of pine and a mineral bitterness. It's fine. Perfectly fine. But White Oak Jai Alai is a fucking masterpiece.

Pours hazy golden with a white head. Aroma has notes of malt, citrus, grapefruit and pine. Taste is light to medium sweet and medium bitter with a long citrus, grapefruit and piney finish. Body is medium, texture is thin to oily, carbonation is soft.

355 ml can, from Vinmonopolet (Kvadrat or Nettbutikken). ABV is 7.2%, IBUs 45. Hops are Mosaic, Citra, Hallertau Blanc and Galaxy. Moderately hazy golden colour, moderate white head. Aroma of tropical fruits and crushed grapes, hints of sweat. Flavour of citrus, tropical fruits and pine needles, decent bittering hops.

Can from Systembolaget. Nice powerful hop aroma. Standard IPA appearnce. Im a sucker for the taste of the galaxy hops, well balanced fruitiness and bitterness. A strong bitter ending. Really decent IPA.

Nice tasty ipa Hazy yellow in the glass with a fine head. Good lacing also Looks nice and inviting Pleasant hoppy aroma Ok balanced bitterness and sweetness.
