--Gravity cask at Zum Franziskaner, Stockholm. -- Dark mahogany colour, firm head. Aroma of coffee and burnt malt. Dry with medium body and rounded mouthfeel. Almost acrid black malt. Mild chocolate and coffee. Mid bitter finish.

Pours mid brown, looks dark brown in the glass. Two fingers of frothy, quite large-bubbled off-white head. Good retention and nice lacing. Good intensity in the aroma: a malty base of dark bread and nuttiness with a quite distinct chocolate note, a background of cola-like refreshing feel, the slightest hint of spiciness. Taste notes follow the aroma closely. Medium sweetness and slightly below medium bitterness; none stands out and the beer feels well balanced in both taste and aftertaste. A quite dry (though maybe a bit too short) finish. Quite light bodied with average carbonation, an easy, decently lively mouthfeel. This is probably closer to a schwarzbier or a tmavy than to a typical german dunkel, and indeed these taste note looks strangely similar to the one i made for their schwarzbier. Overall, a nice one.

ABV: 5.2%. Clear dark brown colour with a large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, light beige head. Aroma is moderate malty, bread, toasted - roasted, dark malt, light burnt, light sweet malt. Flavor is moderate sweet with a average duration, roasted - dark malt - chocolate, bread, dark malt, sweet malt. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. [20230120]

Flaska från Bierothek. Valnötsfärgad vätska med medelhögt krämigt smutsvitt skum. Maltig doft och smak. Mjuk och len, mjölig och ganska torr, mörkt bröd, svarta vinbärsblad, vört, kryddor. Lite som att beskriva ett gott saftigt surdegsbröd. Harmonisk och välbalanserad. Mycket gott

Fläschla: More than “Dunkel”, almost black with a ruby sheen, presumably hazy, mid-sized creamy and stable tanned head, distinctive and rich sweet fruity and dark-malty nose with toasted malt and traces of bitter chocolate; moderate bitter-sweet flavour, medium bodied, creamy MF; lingering sweet toasty and fruity finish with a mild balancing bitterness in the aftertaste. Great! Franconian! Stuff!
