Cask @ the Wellington, Birmingham City Centre. Translucent dark brown, flat. Scent of chocolate, coal fire, malt vinegar. Boring bittersweet taste, leading to a slightly more bitter finish. Surprisingly chewy palette. Very meh.

Tried at the Nottingham Beer Festival. Off black colour with small off white head. Roasted malts, dark fruits, nice mild.

Cask @ GBBF14. Malty-sticky, not too deep, slightly smooth. fresh, but not too much deepness Nice smooth ale characteristic. The aftertaste is smooth, malty, fresh, with a nice bitter ale-typical ending.

Cask (Vat & Fiddle, Nottingham) - Dark brown with red tinges. Blackcurrant, blackberries and treacle in the aroma. Slightly sweet taste with liquorice, fudge and blackberries detected.

Hand-pulled pint in the Castle Rock owned ’Eagle’, in Boston Lincs on 24th May 2014. Like it’s bottled brother it pours a deep, dark reddy brown with a solid tan head. The malty nose is also very similar. Semi-sweet and smooth in texture (compared to the bottled version). Easy drinking and pleasant.

Cask at Crown and Anchor, Welby. Dark with a decent head. Fruity with a slight liquorice hint. Nothing special but perfectly drinkable beer.

500ml bottle: BBD 25 May 2013. Poured (twice) into a Palm badged stemmed tulip at home on 26 Apr 2013. Deep, dark reddy brown with a good solid tan head on top from both pours. Mildly malty in the nose: coming stronger as the beer warmed in the glass. Slight smokey feel (peat bog style) to the semi-sweet malty taste. The beer appeared to be ’on the turn’ as I got stale and vinegar flavours within the brew: I’ve scored as if they were not there!
