Motueka (Green Can)

Exclusively dry-hopped with New Zealand's Motueka with tropical notes of lime zest and sweet fruit. Motueka has a much more restrained character than Columbus and Citra and these two beers outline the dramatic impact hop choice can have on a beer.

473mL can, pours an opaque, cloudy, milky yellow with a small white head. Nose is earthy and chalky, with some citrus hops, light dankness, some onion, and earthy hops. Flavour is full of boiled vegetables, earthy hops, cabbage, some weedy notes... ugh. Really vegetal character here. The chalk doesn't help. Very poor.

Can from the brewery
Murky pale blond colour, compact head. Mild citrus and tropical expression, the base is lightly chalky too, that didn't use to be a characteristic of Superflux but is more commonly so, recently. Decent, but not impressive.

Pours with milky yellow body and minimal foam. The aroma is muddy hops, chalky, slight pineapple, vague lemon zest. Flavour is more muddy pine, soft guava, okay oiliness. Easy to drink but very subtle and hardly memorable.

16oz shared with Alex at Andrey's. Appearance: murky blonde with a white head. Aroma: tropical fruits, juicy, a bit dusty. Taste: along the same lines. Overall: pretty nice one.
