"The most convivial of ales" as described (and often imbibed) by 'The Bard' himself has become the adopted beer of the bohemian vagabonds of the Scottish arts scene. A pale golden brew, that is cold stored with gooseberries to deliver a sharp refreshing drinking experience.

Pale amber with a small head. Aroma is full of sweet apples, white grapes and definite gooseberries. Also some weird sort of resiny herbal scent, presumably from the bogmyrtle.Flavours are quite similar, tangy gooseberries, bready malt and more of that herbal note, which contributes an extra dimension to the otherwise weak finish.Medium body suits the beer well. The sweet and tart gooseberries are refreshing, but this is really a novelty beer.

330ml bottle from a Real Food Store in Edinburgh. Golden brown body under an one-finger, frothy white head. Discreet hints of berries and fruits to the nose. Taste of spiced berries. Short, bittersweet tail. Foamy in the mouth [hotel room at Caravel Guest House, 24.10.2008].

A hazy golden ale with a thin white head. Sweet honey malt aroma, oxidized, some fruity orange notes. In mout, a sweet biscuitty malt, honey, light oxidation signs, no hop bitterness. Medium bodied. Overall, a bit boring. LCBO gift set 2006. BB Apr 2007. Enjoyed August 20, 2008.

Bottle, Barleycorns, Nantwich. Poured a hazy amber orange with a thin white head. Vague slightly grassy berry aroma. Didn’t detect a huge amount of berry in the flavour, but its just about there in the background. Mouthfeel was a bit thin. Refreshing enough but on the dull side of the fence.
