Redhook Long Hammer IPA is a West Coast classic. The generous addition of hops during the brewing and fermentation process gives our India Pale Ale its characteristic bitterness and piney citrus aroma and flavor. Tracing its heritage from another Redhook classic beer, Ballard Bitter, Long Hammer IPA is one of America’s favorite IPAs and Seattle’s #1 local IPA.

Bottle (backlog 2014). Clear golden body with a medium sized, dense off-white head. OK fruity aroma of peach and tropical fruit with just a hint of malt. Flavor is quite plain and basic mild IPA with fruit like aroma, mild malt, hint of caramel and some fruity bitterness. Medium body and moderate aftertaste. Easy drinkable, pretty straight forward.

Backlog rating. Pours a clear gold with a finger of white foam that lingers. Citrus on the nose with pine and caramel notes. Bitter on the finish with a lingering pine character, overripe citrus.

12 oz. bottle. Pours pale gold with a white head. Aroma is caramel malt with faint citrus. Taste is similar. Very boring and bland for an IPA.

Cascade-heavy IPA, mixing citrus and pine without delving too deep in either direction. Caramel-laden malts seem far too prominent, while the bitter back end is mostly pine and hints of yeast. About as average as an IPA can get.

8/VIII/17 - 12Fl. Oz. bottle from Bierhalle Deconinck (Vichte) @ Help-Me-Get-to-10K-In-Time-Tasting 1 - BB: 5/VIII/17 or V/8/17, not entirely sure (2017-1182) Thanks to Erwin for sharing the beer!

Clear orange beer, small creamy white head, unstable, bit adhesive. Aroma: very soapy smell, floral, bit chemical, what is this? MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: very soapy flavours, soft bitterness, floral, pretty chemical, fruity touch in the back. Aftertaste: unpleasant bitterness, very harsh, bit resinous, some overripe fruits. Not very nice, this one. On from the looks of the other ratings, it seems it's not just the age on the bottle...
