The "i" might be in lower case, but beware - this is a capital beer. Brimming with luscious roasted coffee and chocolate malt flavours drizzled over a scoop of velvety ice cream. iStout Affogato is balanced by a brisk bitterness and bold, hoppy freshness, remixed by the addition of lactose, coffee, and vanilla in the brew.

Can pour into tulip glass from Andover Classic Wines. Appearance is opaque black with faint sparkle noted at edges of glass, 3-finger, light brown, foamy head with good retention and tons of sticky lacing. Aroma is roasted malt and coffee, vanilla, lactose. Taste is strong, sweet chocolatey malt, vanilla and cream, balanced by more moderate coffee bitterness. Palate is full bodied with velvety-smooth, creamy, thick texture, soft-to-average carbonation, hint of alcohol warmth and nice mix of bitter and sweet, as taste, in the finish. Overall, am glad to finally cross off New Zealand as a country to have rated from, and to have done so with such a quality beer rather than just as a formality. Strong all around!

440ml can. Pours deep opaque black with a dark brown foamy head. Coffee, biscuit, bitter grapefruit peel, pine, dark chocolate, deep roast coffee, bit of sweetness. Pretty good body. Nicely balanced. Very good.

Can. Pours brown black with creamy head. Big coffee nose with vanilla. It's a party in my mouth. Like a luscious dessert.
