Maman 2020 is a blend of 2 distinct threads. The first consisting of base stout aged 22 months in Heaven Hill barrels, this comprises 80% of the blend. The remaining 20% is base stout aged 27 months on Weller barrels. We tasted through a couple dozen barrels to find a blend that best exemplifies our beloved barrel aged stout, Maman. Oak, maple, marshmallow, and caramel all dominate the aroma, with waves of rich brownie batter fudge and Heath bars wrap up the palate. We always strive for a balance of flavors in our beers, and we feel the nuance and surprising drinkability make this vintage of Maman something we’re immensely proud of.

Dolle 40 years and 20k bash. Black with a lasting off-white head. Roasted aroma with chocolate, liquorice, vanilla and a touch of booze. Sweet roasted and really complex toffee and chocolate flavour

Woah, big surprise to try this. Mamamamaman this is good. Crazy smooth, rich, just boozy enough and delicious. Nice balance between bourbon and base. Chocolate, roasty coffee, soft vanilla from the barrels. Stunning beer.

Sergey's hunt, tasting at Ryan's, bottle
Pitch black colour. Strong aroma of bourbon, tar, chocolate. Full bodied, quite thick indeed; strong dark chocolate flavour, moderate sweetness, almonds, huge bourbon character, dark sugar, and a powerful alcohol punch.
Wonderful.

Poured from 750mL bottle. Black with small tan head. Molasses, hint of vanilla, tons of barrel, but alcohol is fairly hidden for the ABV.

750mL bottle, pours black with a tiny light brown head. Aroma is remarkably rich and complex, with lots of syrupy molasses, bourbon barrels, vanilla, and gentle roast. Flavour is remarkably complex as well, with smoky whiskey, bourbon, vanilla, and molasses. Deep barrel character that dominates without being too harsh or boozy—I don't feel the high ABV. Lovely.

750ml (thx, Brent for proxying and Matt for helping with the border crossing) shared @ Ryan's. Appearance: almost black with a dark beige head. Aroma: huge barrel, molasses, sweet, fruity. Taste: very thick with intense bourbon barrel character, sweet, fruity, getting boozy as well as more fruity and sweet when it's warming up. Overall: bourbon bomb, very nice, I would prefer it to have it more vanilla and chocolate, though.
