Bottle at L42 thanks to Ken. It pours opaque black with a thick beige head. The aroma is earthy, toasty, salted, umami, bit of liquorice, Granny Smith apple, red berry and roasted malt. The taste is dry, bitter, sour, tangy, umami, Granny Smith apple, cranberry, redcurrant, salted stuff and a touch of acidity with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Well rounded and quaffable. Very nice stuff.

Bottle from Park Fever, Hither Green. Black pour with a swiftly disappearing tan head. Aromas of raisin, chocolate, blackberries, licorice, aniseed, cocoa. Flavours of chocolate raisin, liquorice, over ripe plums, cocoa, fizzy cola bottles. Light sour action, lots of dark fruits. Vinous mouthfeel. Cola and dark fruit in the finish. Very tasty brew.

On keg at the Hanging Bat. Appearance - opaque black with an olive sheen and a thin attractive fawn head. Nose - molasses and dark chocolate. Not a lot of saltiness going on. Taste - big tangy molasses note. We're in black jack territory. Liquorice abounds. Palate - close to medium bodied with a dry yet tangy long middle section. Dry tight and long through an extremely long linger. Overall - one to write home about. Stunning and complex.

Bottle from Drink? Hebden Bridge. Black with next to no head. Has a strength, which is noticeable in its dark, slightly roasted malt nose. Sweet and sour at the same time, neither of which are overbearing, with a sticky texture.
