A rich indulgent black stout. Castle Eden Black blends 4 malts and the choicest hops to give generous depth of flavour to this silky textured stout.

Originally brewed at the world famous Castle Eden Brewery in Castle Eden Village, the brand was reintroduced, using the same traditional recipes and ingredients, in 2018 from the brewery's new home in Seaham Harbour.

Creamy tan head stayed on a slowly carbonating black body. Chocolate, malt & nutty aroma. Medium bodied, smooth & tingly on the back. Malt, burnt, nutty, smoky & creamy tastes with bitter tangy hoppy finish. Deece

Bottle from local Home Bargains store. Has a pleasing aroma of roast malts, milky coffee and a hint of liquorice. Pours pretty much jet black with a small beige head. In the mouth there is an initial sharpness, almost sour, that I can’t pin down. Once accustomed to this, the tongue can detect bitter coffee on a foundation of roast malts and chocolate. Finish is bitter and fruity. A bit strange, but pleasant enough.
