Unusual for this style, we brew it with a wheat yeast, but we love the added texture and fruitiness it brings, alongside the rich and roasted flavour from the malts. Carbonated using nitrogen for an extra rich drop.

Bottle @sbwf15. Dark brown, thin off white head. Bready, caramelly, molasses. Flavor similar, too much sweetness here, molasses dominates.

Bottle at SBWF2015. Dark brown color, small beige head. Caramel and alcohol in the nose. Light-bodied to medium-bodied. Caramel, grass, malts. Not very stoutish.

330ml bottle from cotteridge wines. Cola black cola no head. Roasted malt and sweet chocolate aroma taste is mainly sweet. Surprisingly high carbonation and a fairly thin body.

Stout at the brewery, I am pretty sure it was the kegged not draft version. It was a deep reddish brown in color with figs and plums in the aroma. The taste gave me fruits - rich raisins and malts. I felt it was more like a bitter than a stout but nice enough.

Black colour, red hue, firm small moussy beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, caramel and cacao. Malty flavour, caramel, roasted malts, coffee. Quite full body. Finish malts, caramel and coffee.

Draught @ Crate Brewery - [ during RBESG14 ], Unit 7, Queens Yard, White Post Lane, Hackney Wick, Greater London, England E9 5EN. [ As Crate Stout ].Clear dark red brown color with a average, frothy to creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, chocolate, sweet malt. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and light moderate bitter with a long duration, sweet malt, chocolate, roasted bitter, smoked notes. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. Cask: Literally black with a ruby sheen, firm and creamy tanned head; sweet fruity and toasty nose, dried black berries detectable; moderate sweet-bitter flavour with a pretty subdued acidity; slightly lingering sweet-bitter fruity and toasty finish. Good, but still a bit sweet...

Sample at SBWF 2014. Black with a small tan head. Roasted malt, some coffee and chocolate. Also notes of caramel and some fruit. The finish was dry and bitter. .
