Gloriously dark, rich and fruity aromatic beer. This wonderful top fermented beer is coupled with notes of caramel and dark chocolate. Munich is famous for its iconic ‘Dunkels’ and we think ours is right up there and represents ABK’s roots and regionality.

Had a bottle of this last night when I was a little the worse for wear but it was pretty decent. Sweet, toffee-ish flavour to go with the dark, maltiness but not so far as to make it sickly. Very drinkable.

Bottle from Appellation Wines Comely Bank. Appearance - deep amber to brown. Decent off white head. Nose - malt and toffee. Light nuts. Taste - more toffee, nuts and molasses. Palate - medium bodied and creamy. Fairly elegant on the finish despite the sweet creaminess thats up front. Overall - decent example of the style.

500ml bottle. Pours very dark brown, small creamy tan head. Aroma is soft coffee cake, grains. Taste is smooth, exceedingly light with a somewhat oily mouthfeel... glimpses of dark fruits, nuts, grains with a dry close. So so.

Weicher, kaum bitterer Malzantrunk. Geringe Süße, die Malzigkeit verstärkt sich etwas. Leicht würzig, süßlich herb, holzig. Könnte mehr Ecken und Kanten haben. 10/7/9/7/9/7

Ins Glas ergießt sich ein dunkel rötlichbraunes Bier mit schöner Schaumkronne. Geruch röstmalzig, Karamell, leicht schokoladig. Geschmack röstmalzig, schokoladig, minimal würzig.

Bottle: Clear, reddish-amber coloured, small loose tanned head, sweetish caramelly-toasty nose with a certain fruitiness; light to moderate sweetish flavour, supported by a slight bitterness, pretty light bodied; slightly drier in the mild toasty-bitter finish. A bit thin, but all in all nice…

500ml bottle. Clear red glowing dark brown with small collapsing frothy off-white head. Decent slightly sweet dark malty aroma. Slightly sweet dark malty taste, minimally dry roasty note. Totally lackadaisical and powerless brew.

Yet another from this seemingly prodcutive brewery in Bavaria. A decent example of a German Dunkel, the right notes of toasted grain and deep, dark brown color. Nothing stands out, but not disappointing either. Picked up in a Bavarian six pack from Edeka....
