A beer to fit tightly within our ethos at Orbit Beers, paying homage to European brewing heritage and traditions.
Named after the runoff area on vinyl records, with a nod to Seven (named for the 7” single) our Double Brown Stout which we have brewed in previous winters at Orbit.
Dead Wax is our take on a classic London Porter. Based on the late nineteenth-century interpretation of the style. Complex rich malt, with aromas of chocolate, coffee, caramel and malty biscuit.
More chocolate, coffee and black treacle on the palate. Rich full body, robust bitterness and a subtle earthy/lemony hop character combine to create a distinctively dry and drinkable dark ruby coloured beer.

On tap at Craft Beer Oasis, Crewe. Pours almost black with a small creamy head. There’s coffee in the aroma – but you have to search for it. Coffee is more pronounced in the mouth, along with roasted malts and hints of fruit and spices. Decent enough I suppose.

Half-pint, on tap at Mother Kelly's, Bethnal Green. Shared with Finn. Clear, dark brown body, film-type layer, lacing rings down the glass. Inviting aromas of roasted chocolate malts. Malt-forward taste of black chocolate supported by a coffee notes. Prolonged ending of coffee-chocolate, smoothly roasted. Fine bodied. Good drinking. (London 21.11.2021).

Bottle from Beer52. Ruby-black with a beige head. Black coffee, chocolate syrup, berries and boozy port notes. Earthy roasted malt appears in the mildly bitter finish. Decent porter, although it doesn't end quite as well as it begins (definitely port followed by er...!).

[33cl bottle from Beer52.] A cola coloured pour, slightly hazy and with no head; roasted coffee aroma; rich coffee taste and slightly sweet; then some bitter roasted notes; and a fruity chocolate finish. Not bad.

330ml bottle delivered from the Salmon, Leicester and drunk at home. Mid- to dark chocolate brown, only slightly translucent with a very little beige head.nlight chocolate aroma with some salted caramel and yeast extract. Bittersweet taste with suggestions of liquorice and mint, followed by a strong astringent bitterness in the finish. Oily body, soft carbonation. Ok, but a bit of an odd duck.
