A beer to fit tightly within our ethos at Orbit Beers, paying homage to European brewing heritage and traditions.

Named after the runoff area on vinyl records, with a nod to Seven (named for the 7” single) our Double Brown Stout which we have brewed in previous winters at Orbit.

Dead Wax is our take on a classic London Porter. Based on the late nineteenth-century interpretation of the style. Complex rich malt, with aromas of chocolate, coffee, caramel and malty biscuit.

More chocolate, coffee and black treacle on the palate. Rich full body, robust bitterness and a subtle earthy/lemony hop character combine to create a distinctively dry and drinkable dark ruby coloured beer.

Dark brown, near black, with a frothy tan head and a mellow roasted malt and chocolate aroma. Creamy smooth with roasted malt, chocolate, a little kick with dry coffee bitterness to finish things off.

330ml bottle. Dark brown, small beige head, minimal retention. Roasted yet sweet malts, coffee, milk chocolate in the aroma. Taste as per aroma, quite roasted and dry but with a sweetness, a berry note lightly tart, and creaminess to offset. Medium body and carbonation. Good.

Cask, yes cask at the Southampton Arms, London on 23rd June 2024. Deep ruby brown with pale tan foam affording full initial lacing. Rich coffee roast malt aroma. A burnt coffee roastiness dominates the liquid pass, and the finish is of lasting bitter chocolate and fresh ground coffee. Medium bodied with a smooth yet engaging mouthfeel.

(Draught at Euston Tap West, Euston, London, 18 May 2023) Dark brown colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with chocolate, coffee and roasted malt. Malty, roasted taste with notes of coffee, dark chocolate, black bread, roasted grain and a generous coffee bitterness. Rich, solid and well made porter. Very nice.

Keg at Euston Tap. It pours darkest brown with a decent tan head. The aroma is rich roasted malt, dark chocolate, nutty, praline, some espresso and sappy pine. The taste is firmly dry, rich roasted malt, toasty, bitter - sweet, woody, nutty, praline and mellow coffee vibes with a smooth praline finish. Medium body and fine, massaging carbonation. Flavorful, balanced and moreish. Really like this one.
