Jedes Jahr für die Fastenzeit handwerklich eingebraut und nach 3 Monaten Lagerung im Februar angezapft. Besonders lange gelagert ist das „flüssige Brot“ wie früher in den Klöstern ein echter Genuss.

Bottle. Nice creamy head with good duration. Color is dark red/brown. Aroma is rich caramel, malt and hops. Taste is bitter and sour - very surprising.

Bottled. A deep red beer with a medium orangey head. The aroma has notes of malt, pumpernickle bread, and brown sugar. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, and pumpernickle bread, as well as lighter notes of cinnamon and other spices, leading to a dry, bitter, and spicy finish. Thanks yespr for sharing.

(Bottle 50 cl) Courtesy of yespr. Clear orangey brown with an off-white head. Clean aroma of roasted malt. Good solid malt base of roasted malt and again a wee salinity. Subdued bitterness. A good solid Bock. 220808

(bottle) Clear, dark brown colour with a reddish shine and a medium-sized beige foamy head. Smells initially like a Dunkel: sweet toast-malty nose with caramel and a tinge of alcohol. Sweet, slightly bitter flavour, robust toast-malty, slightly bready taste with caramel; medium to full bodied with a smooth mouthfeel; sweet toast-malty finish with a present but non-disturbing alcohol presence (15.08.07).

Bottle. A nice amber body is covered by a medium sized dense beige head. Unfortunately the aroma and flavor don’t continue the good impression from the appearance. There’s buttercotch and cooked vegetables in both aroma and flavor. Sugary maltyness, some caramel and a mouldy touch to the aroma. The flavor has toffee, some dried fruit notes and a little bitterness. Cooked vegetables and butterscotch in the finish. Medium to full body. There’s flaws in the beer, but it’s sure drinkable. I know plenty of other dunkler bocks I’d prefer though. (080822)

50 cL bottle. Pours clear and golden amber with a lacing off-white head. Slight roasted and breadish malt aroma. Sweet malty and breadish flavour with a light bitterness showing through. Lingering malty and roasted flavour into a nice lasting malty finish.
