Aroma: Coffee, vanilla, chocolate and hazelnuts.

Appearance: Black body with a thin tan head that quickly dissipates. Light lacing marks.

Taste: Dark chocolate, rich dark malt and milky coffee. Hints of wood and hazelnuts.

Palate: Thin to medium body with an oily mouthfeel. Average carbonation.

Overall: A very solid, sessionable Stout, though it’s a bit on the thin side.

50 cl bottle @ home. Rated on 16.01.2009
Aroma has chocolate, some coffee notes, hints of nuts and smoke. Flavour has licorice, some coffee, semi‐dark chocolate and hints of smoke. Slightly sour finish with ashy notes. Excellent stuff for this ABV, it is quite amazing how tasty beers williams can do with only 4-5%.

Bottle from Aldi Gorgie
Very dark brown, ruby edges, frothy tan head Aroma - Soft roasted malts, dark chocolate, touch of soft coffee, some plain chocolate, mellow aroma
Taste - soft roasted malts, dark caramel malts, plain chocolate, some sweet quite rich dark malts
Palate - Soft carb, thin to medium body, smooth texture. Finish as main flavour with some chocolately malt
Overall - I was surprised by this - less fancy label and picked up in Aldi...It’s a decent bit stronger dark mild to me - nice dark malts

500ml bottle. Clear dark brown with average, frothy to creamy, minimally lacing, beige head. Dark malty and slightly grainy aroma has hints of dark fruit, some roast and coffee notes. Taste is initially dry hoppy with a soapy tendency, later still dry with a roasty and dark malty touch; slightly watery in the second half; finish has to some degree lasting, explicit, albeit only decent roasty notes.
