From a 12oz bottle from Pick’s Liquors poured into a Pilsner glass. Almost no head to speak of, dissipating quickly. Pours very dark, brown almost black. Very malty on the nose, slight smell of smoked sausage. Lightly sour and lightly bitter. Tastes like someone dunked a smoked sausage in a Guinness Draught. Light carbonation and slightly oily. Long, slightly bitter finish with a slight taste of smoke. Overall, I’m not too happy with this beer. I was expecting a lot more taste and a lot more smoke flavor. My only comparison for this as a smoked beer is the Shiner Smokehaus which I loved. It’s not a drain-pour, but I won’t be buying it again.

Bottle shared by Shane. Pours a dark hazy brown with brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma is full of buttery popcorn with a smoky note that leads to a burnt popcorn note. Flavor is similar with less buttery popcorn and more smokiness coming through but something is definitely off here. Need to try this again with a bottle that isn’t messed up.

Tasting at Papsø
Black color, small head. Aroma of artificial vanilla (that spoils everything), chocolate, light smoke. Dry body, weak mouthfeel, roasted malt flavor (light) with some smoke (light). The final is a bit empty and dry. Not very good.

Bottle pours out a smoky brown topped with a smoky tan head. Aroma was of smoke, roast malts, a little smoked bacon and ash. Taste was much of the same but with a little more sweet chocolate and ashtray. A pretty smoky smoked brew.

22 ounce bottle courtesy of STLWill. Thanks! Wow.... opened with a big pop of carbonation that made me think I had a gusher on my hands. Fortunately not. On the first fairly gentle pour I had one finger of beer and the rest was head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma is fairly smoky with light roast, apple and tobacco notes. Taste is smoky, roasty malts with coffee, nutty and chocolate notes. Nice bitter bite in the finish. Full bodied, smooth and very creamy. For someone who doesn’t like smoked beers, this is pretty damn good.
