McEwan’s IPA can trace its heritage back to the 1860s ale that was made for the 18,000 mile journey to India. After being unpacked it was dispatched inland to provide relief for workers toiling beneath the unforgiving sub-continental sun. It tasted so good it’s a wonder each barrel reached its destination.

Bisquit aroma. Redbrown with a rocky head. Maltish notes, thin finish. Pleasant, but as so many have noted (and the style indicates)not an IPA.

Barely discernible from McEwans Export. Some caramel in the flavour, well rounded, perhaps a bit thin. Drinkable stuff that shouldn’t offend anyone. Rerate (can): I understand why this beer is classified as a Scottish Ale at RateBeer, instead of an IPA - hardly any hops are discernible at all. But the brewers insist on calling it an IPA, so I guess it should be rated as such.

I wouldn't wanna call this an IPA, it's more like an oridnary Scottish ale....and it's too thin and watery.

Clearly not an IPA, but not a Scottish ale either. This is more like a sweetish lightish ESB. Not a bad beer by any means, just not an IPA. Light fruitiness is the major trait I could detect. Quite smooth and easy drinking. Medium bitterness.
