Tap at Mikkeller Tokyo. Interesting. Very oaky, wooden, light caramel. Feels almost like an alt. Little bit of herbs in there, but not sure it feels like a saison. Touch of fruit in the aroma, but not sure I'm getting it in the taste. Maybe a touch of fruity sweetness, something lightly tropical perhaps. It's alright.

Bottle. Dark amber color. Malty and floral soft spicy notes in the aroma. Malty sweet, soft spicy flavor with pear. Has nothing to do with a saison, but nevertheless a decent beer.

Bottle. Surprisingly clear golden color with small white head that looks rather soapy. Aroma is dough, peppery yeast, earthy, cooked grains, bubblegum. Taste is earthy, cooked brokkoli, bubblegum. Oily mouthfeel with low to medium, fine-bubbled carbonation. Not great.

Smooth fresh and mild beginning. Easy to drink, not much sourness there. the body is grainy and not very funky. Dry grainy, malty with only hints of the typical farmhouse-funk. Very sad. Nice sessionable malty beer - but no Saison.

SAMPLE at a tasting. Hazy amber, tan head. Lots of caramel and toffee, alcohol-infused fruit. Good, but no saison.

Bottle from Taniguchi. Minerally nose, hay, dust, amber malts, earthy, a bit of caramel. A bit weird and very much farmhouse. Brown-orange, cloudy, with a low, thick, lacy head. Fruity, malty flavor, chocolate, caramel, earthy, nice malt, orange and apple. Quite German in its malt. Smooth and silky, medium body. Medium to high carbonation. I like this, tastes much better than the nose, with just a bit of funkiness but great malt.

330ml bottle. Murky, dark copper-ish brown colour with small, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, off-white to beige head. Slightly grainy, toasty malty, minimally sweaty aroma, a touch of orange zest. Taste is moderately sweet caramel malty, minimally nuttily, a touch of toffee and orange, grassy hoppy overtones. The Saison yeast used here must be the laziest on mother earth.
