In this epic battle, the Blood of the Unicorn has been shed by the sword of the deadly assassin of the east. One sip of this aggressively hopped red ale clearly reveals what drives these, the greatest of, hop heads of lore. Is this the end of the mythical horned horse? Or will he rise like the phoenix to fight another day?

Tap @Taphouse. Cloudy dark amber, creamy light beige head. Caramely, piney aroma. Piney bitter flavour with caramely malt. Slightly chewy and a little rough which gives this one a nice edge.

Level 42 Bottleshare. Thanks to Fergus for the can. Lightly hazy amber beer, good pale tan head. Smooth dry palate, reasonable fine carbonation. Soft malts, mildly sweet, a little oxidised tasting caramel. Mild hop spice and ripe fruits, especially orange and tangerine. Light dry spicy finish. Nothing special. Bring back the DIPA!

Can shared in CW - many thanks to Mr. Fr0g. Pours mostly clear golden-brown with a creamy white head. The nose holds faded toasted pine, dry malts, orange peel. Lightly sweet, with more citrus peel and old pine, some dried caramel. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Finishes with some oily pine, more rind, lightly toasted grains. Eh, so so overall. Perhaps a little past its prime.
