In this epic battle, the Blood of the Unicorn has been shed by the sword of the deadly assassin of the east. One sip of this aggressively hopped red ale clearly reveals what drives these, the greatest of, hop heads of lore. Is this the end of the mythical horned horse? Or will he rise like the phoenix to fight another day?

Canned, 473 ml, courtesy of Max. Shared with him and JFK10000. Pours cloudy amber with small off-white head. Malty, caramel, moderate hoppy, pine, citrus, fruit. Moderate bitterness in finish. Medium bodied. Not a big fan of style but this is nice one.

Keg at RB Best, 31/01/16. Reddish amber with a decent off white head. Nose is bitter hops, light spice, caramel biscuit, orange peel. Taste comprises pine needle, red berry tang, blood orange, straw, airy malts, light spice. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, drying close spattered with earthy hop bitterness. Really solid for the style but that said just an amber coloured IPA in reality !

Can from the Beer Gonzo web shop. Copper coloured pour with a white head. Toffee apple, red cherry, sweet spice and caramel aroma. Lots of orchard fruit in the flavour with a modicum of sweet spice. Sweet, malty finish. Tasty.

Can from Beer Gonzo, consumed at Home Field CL, campsite, Lymington, Hampshire, Friday 10th March 2017 Pours murky brown but with a touch of red, a slim white head sits atop. Plenty of carbonation in the mouth, a little chemical edge, hops start to punch through, bitterness starts to show, a little perfume (in mouth) Loz gets oiliness. Murky in colour, murky in flavour, nothing distinctive showing, but it’s still fine. A6 A4 T7 P4 Ov13 3.4

473 ml. can. Canned 2.11.2016(?) Year is hard to read. Clear copper amber, creamy tanned head. Nose is biscuit malt, caramel, sugar, mellow pine resin following. Taste is bitter biscuit malt, dried bread, low copper pennies, creamy malt, mellow hop oil, strange bitter leaves, herbal bitter hops almost chemical bitter in the back. Bitterness is odd, malt base is decent. Decent brew but it appears to have aged quickly. Even if there is still fair amount of herbal hops Copper pennies, caramel, bready malt body. Touch too much malt, weird bitterness, not enough aromatic / fruity USA hops. It isn’t that old, below 6 months, yeah.

Can @ Benzai’s Crazy Carnaval 2017, 5-10 cl sample, thanks all for sharing! Slight hazy amber cooor, short frothy head. Aroma of caramel and toffee, slight earthy and fruity hop. Medium bitterness. Good stuff, but I am not that blown away as the others.
