Previously brewed at Craywinckelhof.

Bit irregular, but good lightly yellowish head over hazy orange-golden beer. Aroma a bit as from vegetable frying oil, malts, but after some resting increasingly rubber and even sulphur warming up. Bitterish-vegetable flavour, dry and spiced with herbs that don't appear as to be comestible. Again this artificial rubber flavour. Good carbonation. Palate is empty, just the CO² finishing. Ouch! What happened here, can't be intended, this, no? And then, Guldenhooft, HUB Brewers, Craywinckelhof, Lubbeek, St.-Pieters - Leeuw, St.-Laureins - Berchem... obfuscation reaching a new summit?

@home poured into a shaker. Hazy pale amber colour, good frothy white head, half-way lasting, good lacing. Aroma sweet malt, caramel, citrus, grassy hops. Taste medium sweet and light bitter, malty, caramel, grain. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation, malty sweetbitter aftertaste, grainy, coffee groundings, cardboard, overall bit harsh impressin, nice though.

The first beer from a 'bierfirma' in Sint-Laureins-Berchem (north of Halle in the Pajottenland region), intending to set up an independent brewery installation, but so far working with Craywinckelhof to produce this 'ginger owl'. Has been around for two years now, but was brewed by 4Pajot in the beginning. Egg-white, foamy, thickly mousy, uneven-bubbled but largely stable head on a hazy peach blonde beer with orangey-ochre tinge. Aroma of dried potato peel, raw carrots, light DMS (cooked Brussels sprouts) luckily remaining faint, soggy old bread, soapy coriander seed, hay, dried rosemary, unripe apricot, old orange peel, cloves, linseed. Fruity onset but in a restrained way, relatively low in sweetness, hinting at apple peel, dried apricot and a whiff of banana, fizzily carbonated with smooth mouthfeel. Slick bready maltiness with a 'deep' and dim spicy rye note; the wheat in this case is a bit less pronounced, though there still is a clearly soapy edge, enhanced by coriander seed. Dried orange peel (curaçao, I guess) is however a bit more clear than the coriander seed here, with a late, yet somewhat refreshing effect; slightly rooty and earthy hop bitter tail, medium long, adorned with yeasty bready notes. A kind of 'tarwedubbel' with additional rye in the mash, earthy and bready, but not completley free of flaws (DMS!) and frankly rather dull and colourless.
