Troebel geel bier met schuim. Smaak is licht bitter hoppig en kruidig met iets van gras, wat graan en wat sinaasappel. Gewoon een degelijk en goed bier.

Dorada, nebulosa. Bonita espuma blanca. Aroma a grano, notas ligeramente herbales. En boca, es ligera muy bien de gas, bajo caracter maltoso, presenta notas ligeramente cítricas, muy agradables. Final seco y moderadamente amargo. Muy agradable.

Can at home. Slight hazy light golden. Crisp malty, light fruity, fruity and grassy hops, breath crust. Quite crisp and fresh with present hops. Just medium sweet and bitter. Yeah, nice beer.

Can from BiervanEijk, Steenwijk. Kölsch-style. Aroma is grassy and softly citrussy hop with grainy malt, herbal hop, some hay. Flavour is nicely bitter with fairly low sweetness and a dry finish. Medium body. Gone in minutes.

Can 33cl. @home poured into a kölschglass. Hazy pale golden colour, good frothy white head, good retention and lacing. Aroma sweet malt, grain, light lemon, grassy hops. Rather fruity taste, medium sweet and bitter, malty, grain, light lemon peel. Light to medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation, dry sweetbitter aftertaste, quite bitter in the finish, crips, more bitterness than your regular kölsch but I don't mind, very nice.

This sympathetic new brewery in Schaarbeek specializes in exploring German beer traditions so a Kölsch comes as no surprise – and even if Mule is not the first Belgian brewery to tackle this old regional style, I do expect them to do it right, considering their business plan… Snow white, stable, moussy, membrane-like lacing head, misty deep and pure ‘old’ golden robe. Aroma of raw potatoes, green banana, old bread, a sulfuric touch, grass, raw cereals, green tree leaves, mugwort, vague hint of matcha tea. Clean, crisp onset, sharply and very minerally carbonated; slick cereally malt body, restrained white-bready and grainy sweetishness with lingering minerality, in the end bittered by grassy, floral and slightly peppery hops while that sulfuric aspect returns retronasally. Moderately long, dryish, quenching finish maintaining a good balance between malts and hops. Easygoing, pleasant and indeed credible enough as a Kölsch, or at least no less so than the few other Belgian examples I had (including two by Dok Brewing Company in Ghent).
