Cask@Derby Summer Beer Festival 2006. Reddish beer with a thin head. The aroma is light and fruity, and the flavour is weakly dry and watery but pleasant. Overall a good beer.

500ml bottle from Sainsbury. Chestnut colour with thin beige head. Standard English bitter. Some yeast, caramel and hop on the aroma. Some biscuity malt and some apple flavours. Even some nice darkish malts as well along the way. Perfectly acceptable.

Cask at County Hotel, Ashford, Kent Another beer I go through a love hate relationship with. When it is good, I canโ€™t get enough of it (the subtle maltiness balanced by a good english hop finish) other times, I find it bland and not worth the trouble

Amber color, nice head. Aroma of sweet caramel and vanilla, of cake. The body is not very strong, with high caramel character, some brown sugar, light hoppiness and honey, correctly bitter.

[Cask at GBBF 2003] An amber beer with a beutiful head. The aroma is very faint malty with notes of fruit. The flavor is smooth and malty from a good malt blend. It ends on a slightly bitterness. A very creamy beer even though it was cask.

Amber; light, vaguely caramelly, touch of wood. It seems the most popular English ales are always the blandish, malt-accented ones. To each his own I guess.
