Black Alder is our interpretation of a robust American Porter. This is brewed with a complex grist that combines a variety of dark malts, wheat and oats to build a rich base. Centennial and Cascade hops balance out notes of roast, chocolate and coffee. Classic and clean.

Can at home. Pours a dark brown to black colour with a compact beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, nuts, bread crust, coffee, chocolate truffles. Flavour of roasted malt, ash, nuts, dark chocolate and pine and grass in the end. Has a soft mouth feel, full-bodied and a light bitterness. Tastefull, roasted and well balanced.

Can @ Håndslag. Black body under a dense beige head. Aroma has roasted malt. Taste is sweet, roosted malt, coffee and nice bitterness. Fine body and nice, quiet dry aftertaste. Did not recognize much of the hops with the exception of the bitterness, but I could appreciate a well-made, classic porter.

440ml can at Tromsø Mikrobryggeri. Shared with Bjørn Olav and Leif. Bubbly, fawn-coloured patches on the surface of a near-black body. Fair lacing. Roasted malty smell, hints of coffee and cocoa. Taste fine with chocolate and coffee, mid-sweet. Noticeable sulfur both in aroma and the taste profile. Roasted malty ending, dry and mid-sweet. Pretty alright, except for the sulfur notes. (Tromsø 27.07.2021).
