At 4:20 in Rome. Deep black colour with an ivory long lasting head. Nose of licorice, grass, summer fruit. Mouth is simply great: licorice, resin, hoppy. Complex stuff! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle, at 42. An unclear brown beer with a small beige head. Lots of piney hops in the aroma, like hop pellets. Citrus peel and roasted malts too. Coffee and some dark chocolate too. Lots of bitterness in the flavor, with roasted malts and coffee. Full body, soft carbonation. Long bitter, piney finish. Wow, I like this. 140215

0.33l bottle. Really deep dark brown in the glass this, tempted to call it licorice black and it has a medium sized quickly fading bubbly and sidesticking light brown top. The nose has wet gunpowder, a little bit of licorice, dark roasted malts and some traces of cold coffee. Non extreme indeed, but nice enough. Would not immediately identify this as a black IPA. More so in the taste. I get zesty bitterness and sweetness, dark cocoa, lots of toast, roasted sweetness. It has a good oily mouthfeel and not much traces of the alcohol. It feels quite balanced this, definitely not way over the board to complex in any way but actually quite tasty. 03.08.2013

Opaque black beer, good pale cream - tan coloured head. Smooth palate, slightly soft and semi dry. Smooth dark malt with a little malt cream and a touch of licorice. Smooth and mellow pine hops with a nice balance of citric hops. Semi dry finish with a whisper of smoke. Smooth, rich and tasty.
