33 cl bottle @ home, ”sell by 11/2014”
Resiny and hoppy aroma with some roasted tones. Also some sweet vanilla. Feels like Nøgne #100 as fresh. Flavour has hops, quite strong woody notes, some ash, gooseberry bush and roastiness in background. Quite aggressive hop profile here. Slight vegetable and bun dough notes in the background. I like my Black IPAs more roasted and less hoppy (as imperial stout, that is). Took a good while to finish the bottle, the drinkability isn’t that great either.

330ml bottle from Impexbeer

SELL BY 11/2014 - Pours pitch black with a smooth bubbly white head. Aroma of lovely roasty wood, massive amounts of dry grassy and resinous hops, licorice, chocolate and hints of ash. Taste is smooth, but massively hoppy with loads of roasty notes, wood, salty licorice, lingering fruitiness, grass, juicy lemony notes and chocolate. Finish is hoppy to the extreme with notes of roastiness, grassy resinous notes, juicy fruitness, chocolate, licorice and wood. Lingering bitterness just goes on and on. Another excellent beer for hopheads from these guys. Awesome! Note: Gets slightly worse with the yeast poured in, with some vegetable and doughy notes, so be careful when pouring this one.

330 ml bottle from Vinmonopolet Sandefjord. Clear deep, deep amber body with a moderate sized pale beige head. Nice hoppy aroma dominated by pine with medium roasted malt, toast and a hint of coffee. Flavor of sweet, medium roasted malt, dark chocolate, pine and good bitterness. Medium body with a long, pleasant and bitter aftertaste. Tasty and quaffable BIPA.

33cl bottle from Vinmonopolet, Vika. Pours black with a beige head. Pours black with a beige head. Hoppy aroma with licorice, chocolate, citrus, pine, fruits and roasted malt with hints of coffee. Medium sweet with a quite decent bitterness. A bit strange and different, but tasty and interesting. A bit disappointed at first, but certainly a nice brew in my book. --- Beer merged from original tick of Bombay Cat Black Double IPA on 17 Sep 2013 at 20:35 - Score: 7

Bottle. Pours translucent black with a small creamy head. Aroma is roasted malts, raisins, dates and liquorice, as well as some hoppy orange peel. Creamy body with average carbonation. Flavour is bitter, with burned malts and some notes of caramel, sweet liquorice and berries, before a great hoppy bitterness of grapefruit and orange peel. Also finishes off with a long bitter and slightly burned. Very black in appearance, but very IPA in flavour.

03.08.2013, 0,33l bottle @ home:
Small creamy shortlasting head. Aroma is rubber, dark fruits, hops, pine needles, licorice, dark malts, grass, dark sugar, hints of warming alcohol. Taste is grassy, dark malts, rubber, pine needles, bark, ashes, grass, alcohol, hops. Longlasting bitterness. Weird, and pretty boring and one dimentional taste.

Tap at Brasserie 4:20, Roma, 22/06/13. Light black with a good sized tan head. Nose carries a good roast bite, bitter grapefruit, hops, orange. Taste comprises tropical fruit sundae, hops, mineral notes, bready malts, grapefruit, light pine bite, touch of grass. Medium bodied with bite, fine carbonation, hop bitterness in the finish. Solid enough CDA, the 9% booze hardly came into play for me!
