Brown with white head. Malty flavors of caramel and nuts. Little hoppy = little bitterness. the finish has again, a little bit of sweetness. Re-rate. Iron, dishwasher and a hint of vegetables.

Bottled (thanks henrikb). Amber colour, small, but longlasting head. Aroma is strong malts, as is the flavour. Some hopping and metallic hints also in the flavour. A bit caramel. Finish is hoppy and smooth hoppiness stays for a while in aftertaste. Rich carbonation.

Medium brown colour with thick mocha head. Unusual aroma captures rye bread, plums, toffee, hvidtol-like sugary maltiness and tangerines. Soft, creamy body. Sweet malts - rich as a malta but throwing off toffee, molasses and brown sugar notes. The esters are more subdued but still come through with plum accents. The finish is sweet if a shade watery. Fairly simplistic palate, but unusual. I’d drink it again.

500 ml bottle, bought in Denmark. An ale based on pilsener malts, with artificial colouring, hmmm? Filtered and pasteurised. Pours with a beautiful chestnut colour, with a good creamy tan head. Nice malty aroma with notes of caramel, oak and dried fruits, hints of roastiness and tobacco. Flavour is malty sweet with caramel, one-dimensional, minimal bitterness. Smooth and mellow, I expected something better than this.

Nut brown, good tanned head. Lemony, notes of ash tray, sharp metallic nose. Sweet, liquerish-like flavor/palate. Maybe candy sugar added? (3/4/4/2/8 2.1)
Re-rated: Keg@Orsted Olbar Deep clear copper color, steady white head, lace. Caramel, some brown sugar in the nose. Light to medium-bodied. Caramelly, some grassy notes. Quite sweetish. Not interesting. AR 6 AP 3 F 6 P 2 OV 11 2.8

An amber beer with an off-white head. The aroma is sweet malty. While the flavor is sweet malty with notes of caramel - and something else that I can put a name on, but gives the beer a dryness - I wonder if this is the cotton? It is NOT the same as AZ Ale no. 16, since the declaration says cotton has been added.

A brown beer with almost no head. The aroma is sweet and fruity. The taste is very smooth and sweet of a very nice maltblend. One of the greatest danish beers.

As Refsvindinge Cotton Ale: Dark brown colour. Light brown, creamy, quite stable head. Unpleasant, bready, crop aroma. Mild, malty flavour. Low carbonation. 4 3 6 4 14

Dark brown colour. Steady, light brown head. Sweet, toasty smell. Nice body. Sweet, malty, roasted taste, with slightly bitter aftertaste. Slightly less sweet than Vestfyen ale, but I probably couldnt tell the difference in a blind tasting.

Fully clear copper; thick, yellow-amber head, like whipped cream. Very ’beery’ nose: malts + hops (English like) at the same time. Soft, mild sweet caramely taste, little pinch of ambrée malt. Slick, but empty feel. No new taste, main taste fades out slowly. OK ale, no doubt. I just wonder what they meant to achieve. And who regularly tastes cotton?Earlier Rating: 12/31/2003 Total Score: 3.5Beautiful garnet colour; quite carbonated, white-greyish head with different sized bubbles. Sweet caramel or candi-syrup nose, wood fruits as blueberry. Bitterish main taste, bit ash-like in character, supported by malty sweetness. Again a faint fruity taste as from blueberries. Hops with vegetable flavours. Fruity-sweet finish. Medium bodied. Malt sugars fill in. No alcohol traceable. Another quite remarkable ale from this brewery. They seem to specialise in these old styles, and make a good job of it. Too sweet for my habitual taste, but my admiration all the same.
