(Bottle 33 cl) At the time of it’s introduction this was actually the only Danish ale - a lot has happened since then... Reddish brown, pretty much no head. A bit flat although CO2 has been added. Sweetish, malty, caramel-notes and some fruityness. Nice alright, but by todays standard nothing spectacular really. 240799

Bottle (thanks to joss!): Clear, amber coloured with a slowly collapsing lacing off-white head, aroma like a diluted Doppelbock: dried fruits, dark malt and caramell in the aroma with a tinge of molasses; moderate sweet flavour, some bitterness shows up in the edges, light to medium bodied; caramelly-bitter finish. Good, but not spectacular........

(Draught at Lord Nelson, Copenhagen, 3 Aug 2007) Dark reddish brown colour with brief beige head. Fruity nose with dark fruit and notes of black-currant. Malty taste with dark fruit, black-currant, blueberries and a clean, rather short and slightly grainy finish. Nice, but doesn’t really stand out.

(33cl bottle) Clear, mahogany colour with a big and moderately persistent foamy off-white head. Sweet grainy, slightly bready nose with mouldy notes and a touch of acidity. Sweet, a bit sugary and slightly acidic flavour, light to medium bodied with a moderate carbonation. Slightly toasted and bready malty taste with light sourish fruity notes; mdium-dry, sweet and slightly bitter finish.

Clear redbrown color, medium frothy off-white head. Aroma of faint malt, hop, bit floral, some grain. Quite sweet and caramel malty taste. Slight bitter taste, bit skunky malts as well.

(33 cl bottle purchased in Helsingör, Denmark) Ckear brown lor, big fluffy tan head. Faint sweet scent, also malty and grainy. Sweet malty and a bit grainy taste. Smooth mouthfeel, yet a bit astringent. Low bitterness.

Medium offwhite light brown head. Dark red body with tiny particles floating. Sweetish bready aroma, quite light, with notes of licorice and milk. Carbonates on the tongue. Light, faintly roasty taste with light fruitiness and a touch of spice. Dry, slightly roasty aftertaste. Thinnish. Well. This is OK, but pretty boring. Like a very watery and boring Belgian dubbel. 500ml bottle (BB.13.08.07). Very attractive appearance with a beige head over a copper red body with good clarity and firm laceworks. Rather poor in aroma, but hints of hops and smoke came through. Flavour of dark fruits on a dark malty backbone. Rounded palate (13.01.2007).

Bottle. Deep clear copper color with a small beige head. Sweet aroma, with some flowery hops and some fruity. Very sweet feel to the mouthful, candy, caramel and some light bitterness.
