Hamovniki trademark was crea ted as the continuation of the history of one of Moscow’s oldest breweries. The Hamovniki factory was built about 150 years ago with the participation of invited Czech masters and reached its peak at the end of the 19th — beginning of the 20th centuries, when it received official status as the supplier of His Imperial Majesty’s Court with the right to display the Emperor’s coat of arms on the label. In 1882, the factory’s products were noted at the All-Russian industrial and artistic exhibition in Moscow. Moscow Brewing Company produces several types of beer under the Hamovniki trademark.
Hamovniki Bavarskoe is wheat semi-dark Weizen beer. It is characterized by rich fruit and cloves aroma with shades of caramel.

At a restaurant in Moscow: pours hazy copper with big white head. Aroma is banana and bubblegum and spice. Taste is bubblegum and banana... Quite sweet. Very much a hefeweizen.

Sampled as Bavarian Weiss/BavarskoyeVery good and dense, light-cream head, retreating over hazy mossy-ochre beer. Cloves, nutmeg, banana, sweet fruit, but also bit rotting vegetable matter. Sweet citrus, banana, and a fine spicy finish with a point of nutmeg, pepper & clove - all the classical yeastesters. Just a faint hint of wheatacidity as well. Good carbonation, if a bit low for a classical Hefe; very wheatslick. Pretty classical Hefeweizen - had better, had worse. Thank you, Michal!

50cl bottle from Stockman, Tallinn - shared with Cunningham at the Tallinn beach sessions. Hazy deep golden to orange with a modest off-white head. Wheaty and fruity aroma with bananas and notes of spices. Moderate sweet with a mild acididty and fairly pleasant fruity flavours. Refreshing and fairly tasty. Nietypowa butelka i mysle ze nietypowe pszeniczne piwo. Dziwne kolorem zbliżone do wiedeńskiego lagera, slodowoscia także. Lekko tylko mętne, mało drozdzy i mala piana słabej jakości nie oblepiającej szklanicy Weizena. Smak mdly, pszeniczny, maczny i ciasteczkowo biszkoptowy.

BOTTLE 50 CL. Cloudy dark amber, medium creamy head. The nose has cloves and all that typical weizen spice, not too fruity and all round sort of bland. Tastes dry - maybe too dry for the style - with spicy notes, weizen tartness and a washed out light fruity and wheaty sweetness. Medium body. A rather bland and unfresh feeling weizen. 5-4-5-3-12=2,9/5.
27-DEC-2015. BOTTLE 50 CL. Murky caramel-colored, big creamy head. Fruity but not at all spicy nose, nothing tart. Some light but weird whey and tomatoes notes. Smooth carbonation. The taste is on the less sweet side, not much fruit here and no clove. Again those sweet cheese / whey notes. Not bad, on par with most second class weizens. 6-4-6-4-12=3,2/5.

Bottle @ weekly tasting shared with Dutchdrebus. Hazy orange to light brown color, medium sized white head that diminishes quickly. Smell and taste sweetish, slightly a hint of apple and a hint of sugar. Tastes more like a sweetish Belgian Ale rather than a hefeweizen to me but certainly drinkable.
