Rustbucket, our trademark Rye Ale, now has a big brother, Black Bucket. This Black Rye IPA balances rye and roasted malts with fresh hop aromas and flavours. At 6.5% ABV Blackie is a little bigger in strength than his lighter sibling but we think he is every bit as drinkable.

Tried in a bottle from flavourly.com. Dark brown colour with a thick beige head. Aroma dark sugar chocolate and light spice. Taste as the aroma with a mid bitter and slight smoke. Full body.

Nice beer, but not as hoppy as expected for a black IPA. Whilst there is some initial fruitiness, the general flavour and finish is rather of a dry stout, with all the roastiness and maltiness of a black IPA but without the distinct hoppiness. Nevertheless a very good beer.

500ml bottle from Brewdog online. Pours dark brown-black in colour with a foamy tan head leaving lots of lacing and aroma of roast malt, chocolate, spicy citrusy pine hop. Flavour is dark malt, roasted, chocolate & coffee, with citrus, woody pine and lingering earthy bitterness. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry tangy roast bitter finish. Quite drinkable black IPA.

Creamy, sandy coloured head stayed on a very dark brown, finely effervescent body. Pine aroma - not much else sniffing about. Medium to thin body. Very smooth on the palate & prickly on the back. Lots of bitter citrus, pine, roasted, caramel, malts & hints of caffeine. Not sure about the Black Rye IPA tag.

Keg at Brewdog Shepherds Bush, London. A dark brown/black coloured pour with a medium beige head on top. Roasty, malty, citrus, pine aroma. Tastes rather similar, roasty, malty, citrus, pine. I believe this is my first Irish craft beer, not a bad effort.
