750 ml bottle from Sparrow, Downtown. Pours an unclear orange with a thick and frothy head and some fairly heavy lacework. Yeast, pepper / spice, funk, and some fruit. Nice rustic / barnyard type of feel to it. Lively carbonation, with a fairly dry close. Just a straight-up, tasty, well-made Saison.

Tap at Mason Lounge. Creamy glass lacing white head. Pretty nice stuff, somewhat earthy, faint lemon lime, dry noble hops. Smooth on the palate. The yeast is restrained, not over phenolic. Good.

Bricolage, Brooklyn tap: pours clear gold with white head. Aroma has some fruitiness, hay, light spiciness. Taste is spicy with a hoppy bite. Not super dry. Light sweetness. A very drinkable and tasty ale.

Crisp, bright, floral saison, full of nice red apple esters and a mild yeasty citric undertone. Grass and pepper mix with modest clove and banana notes, leading to a fruity, slightly tart middle and a firm, moderate bitter finish. Sparkly carbonation gives it the feel of a traditional French farmhouse ale. Nose offers up hay and yeast and mild clove, and the pour’s not bad, sparkly and bright gold with a frothy white head and modest lacing. About as classic as an American saison can get.

Bottle at home, split with James, 05/05/17. Lightly hazed orange golden with a decent off white cap. Nose is funk, farmyard, peach esters, straw, hedgerow, lemon drizzle. Taste comprises sweet and sour citric vibes, straw, light yeast esters, mellow funk, earthhy, light spice trail. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, drying close. Solid saison ... ticks all the style boxes well.

In the traditional vein of a Belgian saison, but a touch too sweet and not enough musty funk.
