I have a sixteen ounce can from the Total Wine in the Heights from a visit to Houston in November. The label on the can says the ABV is 6.3% and gives an IBU rating of 50. Keeping it in the neighborhood, I am using a Great Heights snifter on this tasting, so now is the time to pull the tab and pour. I see an opaque, dark orange-amber liquid with a proper top of off-white foam that indicates there could be some lacing. The scent is all right, reminds of IPAs the way they used to be. Pine, grass, citrus and perhaps some caramel. So, as good as the nose is, the taste only improves on that. Cedar, malt, grain, more of the citrus, meadow, hard candy and leather. Slightly sweet and a moderate amount of bitterness, I think the brewery got this one right.

Clear gold with a decent white head. Perfumy and pine. Caramel and pine with some perfumy bitterness. Old school.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a hazy orange gold with small white head that lasts. The aroma is earthy malt, grass, pine. Slick body, dank, grapefruit, light bitterness, good.
