The Chimay Blue is a dark ale with a powerful aroma. Its complex flavor improves with passing time. The 75-centiliter version (since 1982) is called ''Grande Réserve'' because of its great storage potential., It was first brewed as a Christmas beer by the monks of Scourmont Abbey in 1956. But after its great success, it was decided to offer it permanently.

0,33l bottle at home. BB 2013. almost black color, small off-white / tan head. smells of dried fruits, sherry, marzipan, hints of soy sauce, cherries. very nice smell. full body, light carbonation. tastes of sherry, dried fruits, marzipan, soy sauce, spices, doughy, bit dusty. finishes lightly sweet with notes of sherry, dried fruits and some marzipan. quite good one, liked this a lot better then a fresh one.
