Sample at the Black Friday 04 tasting on 11/23/2018. Clear chestnut-brown color with a medium off-white head that diminishes gradually to a film. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. The aroma consists of bourbon, chocolate, fruit and malt. Full-bodied with flavors of oaky bourbon, dark fruit, chocolate and malt. The finish is boozy chocolate cordials. Good beer all around.

Tap @ Beer-Ma Kanda. Pours dark brown, clear actually, dark mahogany. Not much foam but that's also maybe because I let it sit for some time on the table to warm it up a bit. Nose has deep dark fruits, raisins but not sticky. Also some toffee and light cocoa, bit of booze and light herbal bitterness. Taste brings out these spirit barrels for sure, bit oily (high viscosity) and also warming. Sweet for sure, all these dark fruits and raisins definitely there - but not cloying, some light roast character, bit of hop bitterness and finishes with burnt caramel linger, some added herbal bitterness. Pretty good actually, I do enjoy this, nice sipper. Super awesome to drinks something like this on tap.

Always a red-letter day to try a different Firestone Walker special release. I think this XXI Anniversary (2017) Ale qualifies. I lucked upon this bottle last fall in Santa Fe, NM. It came in a box for some reason, hope I'm not paying a lot for that. A sheet is inside giving the breakdown of the blend, so much Parabola, this much Stickee Monkee and more, all barrel aged, all good. I tilt into a ABGB tulip glass and determine a dark brown liquid with a copper accent. Not much head, just enough to make a ring around the glass. Great frangrance, I get caramel, wheat bread, a little earth. The taste, oh my, an experience. Alcohol from the barrels,very obvious and I like that, hard candy, toffee, fig, grain and cola. It completes with a firm bitterness. Very rich and very full in the mouth. A bit of a burn as it goes down. Hope I can get XXII later to compare.
