Firestone Walker Brewing Double Mind Haze

Double Mind Haze

Firestone Walker Brewing in Paso Robles, California, United States 🇺🇸

IPA - Imperial New England / Hazy Regular
Score
7.12
ABV: 8.3% IBU: 35 Ticks: 37
Our juiciest, fruitiest and haziest IPA ever. An explosion of tropical hop flavor at 8.3% ABV.

Original Mind Haze hops such as Azacca, Cashmere and Mosaic are now joined by Strata, Sabro, Idaho Gem, Idaho 7 and Motueka. DMH is audaciously dry hopped both during and after fermentation, and total hops per barrel of beer reach nearly five pounds in the making of DMH. Sabro has a unique coconut aroma, while Strata offers bold, pungent fruit. Some of these hops might stick out in a lighter hazy like Mind Haze, but in this stronger beer they find a perfect balancing point.

Can from a gas station in Paso while on a roadtrip to Universal Studios with the kids. Solid citrus aroma. Moderately hazed yellow with white head. Orange dominates the flavor. Solid all arond.

Tall boy can for 2.99 - turbid gold with a thick, pillowy head - nose is fairly dank - flavor has a lot of tropical character (mango, pineapple, citrus) and a moderate dankness - highly crushable for the abv - a quality take on the style, and holds up to plenty of other breweries who are acclaimed for the style and charge 18.99 for 4 pint cans.

Can from Total Wine in Folsom, CA. Pours hazy, slightly dirty, gold with a fine, foamy white head. Aroma of melon and mango. Med plus body. Pillowy works here. It's juicy yet dry and bitter. Flavor is pineapple and/or passion fruit; melon; mango. Melon is more towards casava than canteloupe. Nice flavor. Caramel support can be found, if sought. But why bother?
